RIGGINS SWEEPS USCS CAROLINA WEEKEND WITH CHEROKEE VICTORY

GAFFNEY, SC - April 6, 2024 - Eric Riggins Jr. of Charlotte, NC made it two in a row on Saturday night with his United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters victory at Cherokee Speedway. It was the 22nd USCS career win for Riggins, who also won the Friday night series race at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC.

Riggins also drove to his second straight “Clean Sweep” of the racing program by winning the 25-lap Feature Race, the six-lap Hoosier Speed Dash, and the eight-lap Butlerbuilt Racing Products Second Heat.

For the second straight night, the 2023 Daytona 500 Champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. of Olive Branch, MS finished second to Riggins. Cherryville, NC drivers Lance Moss and Johnny Bridges finished third and fourth respectively, and Ryan Roberts of Aurora, NE rounded out the top five.

Ricky Peterson of Rawson, OH led the next group in took the sixth place. A pair of National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Inductees, 2021 USCS National Champion Danny Smith of Chillicothe, OH and the defending 15-time USCS National Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN finished seventh and eighth respectively. Brianna Lawson of Southern Pines, NC was ninth. Luke Hill of Odessa, FL started 15th and finished tenth and earned the Wilwood Brakes Hard Charger Award.

In other preliminary action, Stenhouse won the eight-lap Engler Machine & Tool First Heat Race and C.J. Miller of Mooresville, NC won the eight-lap Racing Electronics Third Heat Race.
