Inside Line Promotions – COLUMBUS, Miss. (March 1, 2016) – Brandon Hanks recorded his best result during a season opener since 2013 last Saturday at Magnolia Motor Speedway.

Hanks battled for a top five throughout the main event before finishing sixth during the USCS event.

“I got all the cobwebs and the rust out last weekend,” he said. “It was a good start to the season.”

The action began with Hanks maneuvering from sixth to third place in a heat race.

“The car was pretty good,” he said. “I didn’t have any complaints. We got a couple of them on the start and once we got strung out everybody was about running the same speed. We were able to chase down Marshall (Skinner) and got by him with about two laps to go.”

Hanks ranked fifth in overall points following the heat races, which lined him up on the inside of the third row for the 30-lap main event.

“They had a red right off the bat,” he said. “When that happened they moved me to fourth for the restart. We started the race and the car was really good. We started a little free and got tighter as the race went on. I kept moving the wing back.”

Hanks competed inside the top five until a late-race pass relegated him to a sixth-place result.

He is slated to race this Friday at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, Miss., and Saturday at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Ala., with the ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints.
