Starks and Gobrecht Motorsports Capture First Podium Finish of Season

Inside Line Promotions – YORK HAVEN, Pa. (April 12, 2017) – Trey Starks produced his first podium finish of the season last Saturday during a USCS Series event at Lancaster Speedway to highlight a busy weekend.

“It was definitely a wild weekend,” he said. “It all started on Friday when we had a really fast car, but unfortunately we weren’t able to capitalize.”

The three-race weekend began for the Gobrecht Motorsports team on Friday at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, N.C., where Starks charged from seventh to win a USCS Series heat race. That earned him the most overall points and lined him up on the outside of the second row for the main event after the No. 4 was drawn for the inversion.

“We got to the lead on the opening lap,” he said. “We were really, really fast. The car was great. We ended up having a part failure on the front end. The tierod stud, which is what holds the tierod on the left front steering arm, broke. I got halfway through the corner and then the thing went straight into the wall. It broke basically everything on the car.”

Starks led the first 10 laps of the main event before the incident occurred entering turns one and two on a restart. The crash resulted in Starks getting upside down and being credited with a 19th-place finish.

The team worked to rebuild the car prior to Saturday’s show at Lancaster Speedway in Lancaster, S.C. Starks advanced from sixth to fourth place in a heat race, which started him on the outside of the third row for the main event.

“It was a little tough to pass,” he said. “We worked our way up to second and we had a few shots at the leader, but I just couldn’t find a way to pass him. We made the best out of the situation.”

Starks ended with a second-place result.

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday at Susquehanna Speedway, where Starks finished second in a heat race. However, he didn’t scale and was disqualified. The team elected not to attempt to start the B Main from the back and called it a night early.

Starks and Gobrecht Motorsports are slated to compete this Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Saturday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa.
