Inside Line Promotions – GREENBRIER, Ark. (Feb. 5, 2018) – Jordon Mallett took a huge leap of faith a little more than a year ago when he became both a sprint car driver and team owner.

“My wife and I bought my parents out and went from a partnership and their driver to now we own everything,” he said. “It was a lot of new responsibilities, trying to figure out the logistics and the financial side.”

The hard work paid off as Mallett earned a career-best six feature victories – he had six wins during the previous six years combined – en route to claiming his first career USCS National and USCS Southern Thunder championships.

“It was a huge deal to us to be able to accomplish that,” he said. “To run almost 50 races and to be able to win the championships was the cherry on top. It was the first year I’ve traveled nationally and completed a season on the road. It was a really big deal.”

Mallett is looking to replicate that success in 2018 when he will return to the USCS National trail to defend his title. However, his focus won’t be on points.

“We want to win races,” he said. “We did what we wanted to do last year. This year we’re looking to win as many races as we can and not let the points play a factor into our mind. If we’re doing our job points will take care of itself. I don’t like having to play the points game.”

The season begins this Friday and Saturday at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla., for the opening weekend of the USCS Series campaign.

“I’ve felt like we’ve had a car that could have won there a couple of times,” he said. “We’ve run in the top five two of the four times we’ve been there and we’ve been in the top 10 three of those times with a mechanical failure the fourth time. We have really high expectations.”

Those expectations for not only this weekend but the season in whole are driven thanks to the support surrounding Mallett.

“The driver gets most of the love and credit, but I can’t do this without God, my wife, my family and all of the people who support this deal,” he said. “It’s a huge effort by a lot of people.”
