Skinner Earns Runner-Up Finish in USCS Speedweek Standings

Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (June 6, 2018) – Marshall Skinner placed second in the USCS Speedweek standings thanks to a trio of top-10 finishes out of the four races that were held after the series was shortened from seven races because of rainouts.

“We did pretty good,” he said. “I was pretty consistent.”

Skinner had solid runs at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss., on May 26, when he finished second, and last Thursday at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala., where he advanced to a sixth-place result.

Skinner came through the B Main to post a 14th-place finish on Friday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss., marking his first result outside the top 10 this year.

“Columbus kind of killed me,” he said. “I started 16th in the feature and only passed a couple of cars. It’s a fast, momentum kind of track and we ran all 30 laps without a restart. I just wasn’t very good.”

Skinner wrapped up Speedweek on Saturday at Riverside International Speedway with a disappointing seventh-place run after starting second.

“I led the race at Riverside for eight laps and then went backwards,” he said. “The track went away and I had the car too free. Ninety percent of the time I’m too tight at Riverside so I told myself I wasn’t going to be too tight that night. I went to the extreme of freeing it up and got it too free.”

Skinner plans to tackle a doubleheader this weekend, racing on Friday at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, Miss., with the USCS Series and on Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.
