Inside Line Promotions – TUSCUMBIA, Ala. (July 3, 2018) – Jordon Mallett returned to Victory Lane for the second consecutive weekend and fifth time this season with the USCS Series during a show last Friday at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Miss.

The 25-year-old placed fourth in the dash before he charged from the fifth starting spot to win the second heat race. Mallett started on the pole of the main event and led all 25 circuits.

“We were fast right out of the gate,” he said. “We started in a desirable position on the pole. I don’t much care to start there, but we made the best of it and took the lead from the green flag and never looked back. The crew worked hard and we did our job. It’s always good to add another win to our total.”

The following night at North Alabama Speedway, the native of Greenbrier, Ark., finished fourth after starting on the outside of the front row in the main event. Mallett won the dash and advanced from fourth to second in a heat race.

“The race track changed pretty quickly,” he explained. “In the feature we started on the outside of the front row and the outside was not where you wanted to start. The track had gotten to where it was right around the infield tires. It was a wait on someone to make a mistake kind of race track. The track kind of came in about the last five laps, but it was a little too late to make anything really happen.”

Mallett opened last weekend in his home state of Arkansas at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis with the ASCS Mid-South Region on Thursday. After waiting on a fresh engine, he got caught in traffic on the way to the track and ended up missing hot laps and the heat race. Mallett started at the back of the B Main and powered his way to second to transfer to the main event, where he also had to start at the rear.

“It wasn’t the typical West Memphis race track,” he noted. “It was one lane around the bottom so we weren’t going anywhere. It was the first time in my career that I voluntarily pulled off mid-feature to save time and equipment.”

Mallett has a trio of USCS Series races awaiting this week beginning on Tuesday night at Lexington 104 Speedway in Lexington, Tenn., followed by a return to Mississippi at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg on Friday and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian on Saturday.

“As a driver and an owner, it’s always good to get to run several times in a row,” he said. “It makes it easier to go to the track when you know you have another one the next night. It’s not as stressful to travel. We won in Meridian last year so we are hoping to repeat that on Saturday. Hopefully, we have a good enough notebook that we can at least be in the ballpark there.”
