Starks Seeking Strong Run in Florida to Close Out the Season

Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 5, 2018) – Trey Starks is looking to end the year strong by competing in Florida this weekend with the USCS Series.

The Gobrecht Motorsports driver will race on Friday and Saturday at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, where he was victorious last year during the final weekend of the season.

“We’re going to test tomorrow in North Carolina and then we’ll throw a 360 in to run in Florida to see if we can get some momentum to end the season,” Starks said. “We ran well there last year so hopefully we can duplicate that performance.”

The team invaded The Dirt Track at Charlotte last weekend for the World of Outlaws World Finals. Starks qualified ninth quickest in his World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series group for Friday’s program and he was 11th quickest for Saturday’s show.

He placed fifth in both a heat race and the Last Chance Showdown on Friday to earn a transfer into the main event, which was postponed to Saturday afternoon because of curfew. However, the race was short-lived because of mechanical woes.

“We fought mechanical issues,” he said. “We had a red flag and came to the work area. We pulled the hood off and tried some stuff, but couldn’t get it resolved.”

Starks was credited with a 24th-place finish.

The event concluded that evening with Starks placing fourth in a heat race and seventh in the Last Chance Showdown – both only one position shy of making the A Main.

“We were up to third in the heat, but lost a spot on the double-file restart,” he said. “In the B Feature we were in a transfer spot and ended up blowing out a bunch of oil for two or three laps. I was running in oil and we lost two or three spots. I made it back up to seventh, but just couldn’t get that last transfer spot. That ended our weekend on a sour note.

“It definitely wasn’t the weekend we wanted and it didn’t go as planned. We had several issues throughout the weekend. We had speed all weekend, but the pieces didn’t fall together.”
