Inside Line Promotions – OCALA, Fla. (Nov. 13, 2018) – The season didn’t end the way Trey Starks had hoped as misfortune hampered the Gobrecht Motorsports team during a USCS Series doubleheader at Bubba Raceway Park last weekend.

A mechanical problem slowed the team on Friday as Starks placed seventh in a heat race before charging from seventh to second place in the B Main to garner a transfer into the back of the main event. However, he pulled off the track early in the feature because of the mechanical woes.

“Friday didn’t go as we wanted so we worked hard to put that behind us and give ourselves the best opportunity for success on Saturday,” Starks said. “It went better, but not without any trouble.”

The team rebounded on Saturday, winning a heat race from the pole to line up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event. Starks maneuvered into the fourth position and was close to a spot on the podium when a lapped car spun in front of the second-place driver. He spun and Starks had nowhere to go, forcing him to spin to avoid a head-on crash.

“That was one of those racing deals where we had no other option,” he said. “It all happened right in front of me and I had to get sideways to keep from running into another car straight on.”

Starks lined up at the back of the field and rallied to finish 12th.

“The track ended up taking some rubber so progress was harder to make in the final laps,” he said. “That wasn’t the way we wanted to end the season, but we had a fast race car and it was circumstances out of our control that kept us from a podium and possibly a win.”
