Inside Line Promotions – LEXINGTON, Tenn. (July 10, 2019) – Derek Hagar earned his fourth win of the season and he added two more podium finishes to his record during a one-week span.
It began on Sunday, June 30, when Hagar raced at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, Ala, with the USCS Series.
“We were supposed to race there on Saturday, but it got rained out,” he said. “It turned into a day race on Sunday. We started first in the dash and finished second. The heat was better for us, as we lined up sixth and made it up to third. We started third in the feature and were able to finish second.”
Last Wednesday started Hagar’s three-race weekend with the USCS Series. He invaded Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., where Hagar started first in the dash and finished second. In the heat race, he started sixth and finished second, which lined him up on the pole for the feature.
“I was really tight in the beginning of the race and fell back to fourth,” he said. “As the race went on the car got better and we were able to make our way back to second. We had a winning car. I just wasn’t able to get through traffic at the right times to stay with the leader.”
The action shifted to Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss., on Friday. Hagar won the dash from the pole and claimed a heat race victory after starting third.
“We started on the outside front row in the A Main,” he said. “Danny Smith led the first lap, but I got around him on Lap 2. We led the race from there and brought home the victory. We had a really good car and I always enjoy running at that track. It really fits our driving style and the atmosphere is something else.”
The busy week wrapped up on Saturday at Lexington 104 Speedway, where Hagar won the dash and a heat race before heavy rain hit the track right before the feature. Unfortunately, the race had to be canceled.
Hagar will head to Riverside International Speedway this Saturday for the Make-A-Wish Race honoring Sonny Sayre and Craig Guy.
