Crawley drives to O'Reilly USCS ?Sunday Speed Spectacular? win at Camden Speedway

August 31, 2008 - Camden, TN – O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series Mid South Thunder point’s leader, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas bested a field of drivers from six states in the O’Reilly USCS portion of the 2nd Annual “Sunday Speed Spectacular” at Camden Speedway on Sunday night. Crawley started outside of the front row and beat K&N Filters Pole starter and defending O'Reilly USCS Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee to the first turn and held on for the win and a $2000 paycheck in the 30-lap winged sprint car main event. It was Crawley’s eighth O’Reilly USCS feature win of the 2008 season.

Gray applied heat to Crawley throughout the entire race. The field bunched behind Crawley after each several caution periods, but on each he was up to the challenge. Gray also held off the rest off the field to garner the $1200 runner-up spot on the night. Former O’Reilly USCS Champion and two-time 2008 feature winner, Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas chased Crawley and Gray around the high speed 4/10 mile red clay oval and across the line for the final podium position and an $800 payday in third place.

The top five was comprised solely of drivers who have visited victory lane with the series in 2008. Young gun Lee Sowell from Nesbit, Mississippi who won the series 2008 Speedweek opener at Riverside International Speedway on May 24th, raced home in the fourth position. Another 2008 O’Reilly USCS feature winner, Matt Linder from Hoschton, Georgia who won at Travelers Rest Speedway on June 28th rounded out the top five drivers.

Rookie driver, Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee led the balance of the field in sixth place. O’Reilly USCS Mid-South Rookie point’s leader, Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee followed in seventh place. Clint Weiss from Fort Knox, Kentucky continued a string of top ten finishes with an eighth place finish. Another talented rookie driver, Casey Rowland from Nesbit, Mississippi finished in the ninth position and Tony Wilson from nearby Paris, Tennessee rounded out the top ten.

Tim Crawley won the evening’s 6-cars, 6-laps Lucas Oil Power Dash. Terry Gray won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat race. Crawley continued his sweep of the Holiday weekend’s event by also winning the 10-lap Butlerbuilt Second Heat. The Hoosier Tire Young Guns award went to 20 year-old Lee Sowell. Seventeen year-old Justin Carver garnered the Rookie of the Race honors.
