October 31, 2008 - Greenville Mississippi – Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas in the Boatersports sponsored Ward Racing #88 led the O’Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series www.uscsracing.com presented by Lucas Oil qualifying night event on Halloween Night. Crawley captured the RE Technologies Fast Tine Award in time trial qualifying by turning a lap of 13.87 seconds around the ¼ mile Gumbo clay oval. Crawley’s time was just five one hundredths of a second off the all-time Greenville Speedway track record of 13.82 set by Ernie Ainsworth from Memphis, Tennessee during the Gumbo Nationals 2007 qualifying.
The two-time O’Reilly USCS Champion, Eddie Gallagher from Piperton, Tennessee was only 1/10th of a second back in the speed contest at 13.88 seconds. Gallagher was followed in qualifying by veteran Kenny Coke from Olive Branch, Mississippi with a fastest lap of 14.03 seconds for third place. Raymond Stull from Independence, Mississippi was just a scant 4/100th of a second behind Coke with a time of 14.07 seconds in fourth place. Ronnie Blair from Dayton, Ohio rounded out the top five qualifiers with a lap of 14.10.
Wins in the 12-lap Gumbo Nationals Qualifying Races went to Tim Crawley and Eddie Gallagher. Action resumes on Saturday night ( November 1st) in the Gumbo Nationals 2008 at Greenville Speedway www.greenvillespeedway.net at 6:00 pm with the Lucas Oil Power Dash that will determine the starting positions in the main event for the top six cars, The back half of the field will get a nother chance to gain ground in the B-Main(s) before the $4,000 to win 40-lap A-Main Grand Finale.
