Greenville, MS - May 30, 2009 - Shane Stewart from Bixby, Oklahoma led every lap of the 30-lap Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series Speedweek Finale at Greenville Speedway on Saturday night to capture his first-ever USCS feature win. Defending Parts Plus USCS Mid South Thunder Champion, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas who started in the eleventh position race through field and chased Stewart over the last ten laps of the race. Crawley closed within two car lengths as the duo crossed the finish line but had his Greenville Speedway win streak stopped at three. Defending Parts Plus USCS National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee followed Stewart and Crawley to the podium in third place. Tommy Worley, Jr. from Farmington, Missouri chased Gray to the finish line in the fourth position. The previous night’s winner, Paul McMahan from Hendersonville, Tennessee rounded out the top five finishers.
Raymond Stull from Independence, Mississippi charged his way from twenty-second starting position to sixth place at the finish. Ernie Ainsworth from Bartlett, Tennessee finished seventh. The 2008 USCS Rookie of the Year, Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee was eighth followed by Wade Oliver from Southaven, Mississippi in ninth place. Young gun Lee Sowell from Nesbit, Mississippi rounded out the top ten.
Terry Gray kicked off the evening’s sprint car action by winning the six-lap Parts Plus Power Dash. Shane Stewart won the 10-lap Engler Machine and Tool First Heat Race. Lee Sowell streaked to victory in the Butlerbuilt Second Heat. Terry Gray won the 10-lap Bar’s Leaks Third Heat Race.
Raymond Stull garnered the Lunati “Crank It Up” Award for passing the most cars in the A-Main event after starting last and charging past sixteen cars to finish sixth. The RE Technologies Rookie of race honors went to Casey Rowland from Nesbit, Mississippi. The JE Pistons Top Guns Award was garnered by Tommy Worley, Jr.
