Howard Moore goes two for two on Independence Day weekend with USCS Firecracker 100 win at Lexington 104 Speedway

Lexington, TN - - July 3, 2020 – Howard Moore from Memphis, Tennessee made his second www.RockAuto.com USCS Victory Lane stop of the Independence Day weekend on Friday night at Lexington 104 Speedway. Moore started outside the second row and charged into the lead past the early race-leader and K&N Filters Pole Position Starter Landon Britt from Atoka, Tennessee and outside front row starter, USCS Rookie points leader, Connor Leoffler on lap two then held of NASCAR Cup Series race, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. from Olive Branch, Mississippi and USCS National points leader, Mark Smith from Sunbury, Pennsylvania for the next twenty-three laps for the win.

As the fleet trio raced through lapped traffic, Stenhouse tried every trick in his play book to get by Moore in the A.G. Rains #3 while trying to hold off Mark Smith himself. The three-way battle lasted al of the way until flagman Anthony Huffman stopped the high-speed contest by waving the checkers at the end of 25 laps.

The 15-year-old Leoffler, who hails from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was impressive as he who his heat race an then d followed the three flying aces home in the fourth position. Two-time USCS National Champion, Morgan Turpen from Somerville, Tennessee who started eighth rounded out the top five drivers.

Landon Britt finished ahead of the balance of the talented field of drivers in sixth place followed by National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Danny Smith from Chillicothe, Ohio in seventh place. The 12-time USCS National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee who is in the runner-up spot in the National standing followed Smith in eighth place. Past USCS National Champion, Eddie Gallagher from Olive Branch, Mississippi brought the Wilson/Hampton #4 home in ninth place and another USCS past National Champion, Marshall Skinner from Marion, Arkansas completed the top ten.

Mark Smith kicked off the evening by winning the six-lap USCS Hoosier Speed Dash. Heat race winners were Mark Smith in the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat while Howard Moore won the Brown and Miller Racing Solutions Second Heat. Rookie Conner Leoffler won the Butlerbuilt Third Heat.

The evening’s Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger Award went to Howard Moore for advancing the most positions in the A-Main from 4th to 1st to earn the award. Several other driver also advanced the same amount of positions, but the award goes to whomever advances the most positions to finish the highest..
