Clewiston, FL – February 6, 2021 – Sunbury, Pennsylvania’s Mark Smith chased early race-leader and 14-year-old rookie sprint car driver, Ryan Timms from Oklahoma City until the races mid-point to win the 2021 United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters Snow Free Winternationals finale at Hendry County Motorsports Park on Saturday night. The Oklahoma young gun led the first 19 laps of the 30-lap winged sprint car contest after starting from the K&N Filters Pole Position. Smith who was the series and the Nation’s 360 sprint car wins leader the past two seasons started outside the second row and had to work hard to take the point away from the talented teenager to garner his first win of the 2021 season.
Timms held onto the runner-up spot at the finish, while holding off former All Stars Champion and WOO Rookie of the Year, Greg Wilson from Benton Ridge, Ohio who finished in third place. The 2020 USCS Rookie of the Year and Southern regional series Champion, Connor Leoffler from Myrtle Beach, South Carolinas rolled across in fourth place. The 2019 and 2020 Empire Super Sprints Champion, New Yorker Paulie Colagiovanni rounded out the top five.
In qualifying heat race action, Mark Smith won the Engler First Heat. Ryan Timms won the B.M.R.S. Second Heat and Greg Wilson closed out the action by winning the JJ Supply of NC Third Heat. Jacksonville, Florida’s Mark Ruel, Jr. advanced seven positions in the main event to garner the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger Award.
The USCS drivers and teams make their annual return to Southern Raceway in Milton, Florida for the USCS “Battle at the Beach” and Rounds # 3 and #4 of the 2021 USCS Winter Heat Series on Friday and Saturday, February 19th and 20th. For USCS info please visit www.uscsracing.com
